Gen2 Folding Firebox Nano Ultralight
This is a super exciting product that I can’t believe I hadn’t come across sooner. For $39.99, this little piece of equipment is well worth the money. With the Gen2 Folding Firebox Nano Ultralight you can say good riddance to hauling around canisters, pot stands, or windscreens. Now you can forget all of that extra weight while still enjoying warm meals and beverages after a long day of hiking or during camping trips. The Firebox Nano weighs in at a jaw-dropping 6 oz, which is pretty awesome for any ultralight backpackers out there looking to retire there old trusty stove for a more practical one.
What I find the most appealing about this stove is that it’s performance is absolutely amazing just by using the simplicity of a few sticks, some kindling, and a match. This little guy can boil two cups of water in roughly 3 minutes. That’s pretty impressive! However, if you do prefer cooking with alcohol or gas burners, no problem! The Firebox Nano adapts perfectly with both the Trangia Spirit and Gas burners. Check out all of the add-ons that are readily available for you to choose from.
Sure, I love to do my fair share of backcountry hiking, but I also plan to backpack through the outback in Australia and this will do perfectly for that as well. So for any travelers reading this, it’s really the best stove I’ve found as far as lightweight packing goes.
Like I’ve already mentioned, there are several options that you can add-on when you purchase this stove; a leather carrying case, adjustable fire grate, and a stainless steel flame guard – just to name a few. And although these tools are wonderful in and of themselves, they are far from necessary. All you need for a fantastic experience is the Gen2 Folding Firebox Nano Ultralight and some sticks around your site.
Seeing is believing, so I try to incorporate valid videos into my reviews. Want to see for yourself? I’ll leave it to Steve to explain a few more details. Check out how he pulls it right out of his shirt pocket!
What are your thoughts on the Firebox Nano? Is there a better stove out there? I’d love to hear your thoughts! Leave me a comment in the comment section below!
This is an awesome product . I had no idea this thing even existed. I love the video. Great explanation. My husband and I love to hike. This is something to consider for our future hiking trip. Thank you for the enlightenment.
Hey! So happy you found this useful. In the future if you and your husband use it, please share your thoughts and experience with me!
Campfires and fire stoves make killer chili and stew!!!! I don’t camp and I’d love to have one of these!!!!!
Indeed they do, Lisa! And ya can’t beat this one for it’s simplicity, weight and price!
We are starting to get into more full-on backpacking trips and this would be perfect!! Great recommendation thanks!
No worries, Venessa! Glad ya found it beneficial!
Wow! That thing looks really handy to have around in your pack if you’re going to be out for an extended period of time, especially at the incredibly low weight! I have no idea how I didn’t run across something like this sooner either. Thanks for the clue in!
I know, right!? That’s exactly how I felt!!
Excellent looking little gizmo, thanks for sharing Courtney. Cleverly designed, simple and I guess very easy to use at any time. Went through your website and found other very interesting stuff that I intend to read this evening.
I look forward to more of your articles.
Best wishes,
John
Thanks so much for leaving a comment, John! Happy that you found some of my other articles helpful as well!
This little fella packs quite a punch! I can’t believe he pulled it out of his shirt pocket. But, the video made it believable! It’s every campers must have. I hope the good word spreads quickly
Glad you found the video helpful, Mutai!
That’s Pretty cool. A new take on some old tech. I like it. I am always a big fan of using the resources around you and not packing everything including the kitchen sink. Simple is good. Thanks for the review!

I’m right there with ya! Improvise!
Wow, what an amazing little product. I don’t think I fully appreciated the small footprint and lightweight size of the Firebox Nano until I watched the video. I frequently do overnight trips in the California Sierra Nevada Mountains and this little guy would be perfect for me.
Do you know if there is optional lightweight grate accessory for the Firebox Nano? I see a lot of great possibilities with this gadget.
Thanks,
Patrick
Yes there is, Patrick. Along with about thirty other accessories you could choose from 🙂 I haven’t yet made it to the Sierra Nevada Mountains, but I bet it’s beautiful!
Thanks for the cool review! I like this alternative to large stoves and the fact that it is lightweight really makes a difference! I also like how it has add-ons that aren’t completely needed so you know it is not a scam. Thanks and best wishes!
Thanks for checking it out Keian!
