Travel light, live light, spread the light, be the light – Yogi Bhajan
In my experience, backpackers and travelers alike seem to rarely see the value in many of the go-to items our society labels as “gifts.” It’s as if the more we go and see, the less materialistic things we feel we need. Whether it’s for Christmas, a birthday or perhaps an anniversary of some sort, finding gifts for a traveler can become a stressful and time consuming endeavor.
Backpackers generally travel light and live light. They have learned through the gift of travel that they don’t need so many of the things people buy. They rather spend money on experiences than items. Slowly but surely this specific trait becomes a part of who they are. These are the reasons why so many travelers aren’t easy to buy for.
“So what does a world traveler want??” You’re probably asking yourself.
Other than more world travel, practicality seems to be a theme. So after giving it some thought, I’ve collected some gift ideas that appeal to both myself and some of my backpacking buddies and conveniently arranged them in the following categories:
Practical Gadgets, Things to Wear, Books&Films, and Journals.
Hopefully you’ll stumble across a few ideas that will help uncomplicate whatever gift-giving situation you may find yourself in. Take a look around and then head on over to the Gear and Apparel tab for more great gear reviews! Be sure to stop by again, as I’m always adding more fantastic choices!
