Look for the red umbrella!
Sandeman’s Walking Tours are a fantastic and inexpensive way to see a city! I’ve taken advantage of these walking tours in several of the cities I have visited, and they are an ever-growing business so keep an eye out!
Generally if you stay in a hostel, there will be a community board of sorts with tons of information for travelers. It’s here that you will most likely come across local Sandeman’s Walking Tour information, but if not just ask someone at the desk. These are very popular among travelers, packed full of information, personable, and best of all (when you’re on a shoestring budget) they are free! Yes, obviously they make their living based on tips, but you only tip what you think the tour is worth! This is fantastic for two reasons;
1.) You’re in control with zero pressure or obligation.
2.) The tour guides do their absolute best to provide you with a knowledgeable, informative and fun experience!
Tours are available (usually) every day, several times a day, at different starting/ending points, and in several different languages. The following is the current list of cities where Sandeman’s Walking Tours are available in alphabetical order:
Amsterdam
Barcelona
Berlin
Brussels
Copenhagen
Dublin
Edinburgh
Hamburg
Jerusalem
Lisbon
Liverpool
London
Madrid
Munich
New York
Paris
Prague
Tel Aviv

Have you ever been on a Sandeman’s Walking Tour? If so, where at? My absolute favorite was in Amsterdam… or maybe it was Budapest… Berlin was also amazing! Share your experiences in the comments section below!
I have filled up more than one passport and never knew about the Red Umbrella until now. Do you know if they have walking tours in Asia?
Hey, Keith! Unfortunately Sandeman’s hasn’t made it’s way to Asia just yet, but I’m hoping they do soon!
